YKMB – Karumba Airport v1.0
Karumba Airport is a small public airport located in the fishing and port town of Karumba, Queensland. Sitting right next to the ocean, it offers incredible views of the Gulf of Carpentaria on approach and take off. It is served by Regional Express with scheduled flights to Cairns, Doomadgee, Normanton, Gununa, and Mount Isa. The airport is also used for charters, medical flights, and by private pilots.
The main focus was to fix the innaccuracies from the MSFS procedurally-generated airport, and to update the airport to it’s current appearance since Bing Maps has out of date imagery.
Version 1.0:
-Removed the tower that doesn’t actually exist and replaced it with a building that more accurately represents the waiting hall
-Improved apron and painted lines to be more accurate
-Added new second stand
-Changed settings to prevent ground workers and pushback vehicles from appearing (I tested this a few times, let me know if it doesn’t work for you)
-Added taxiway lighting
-Added runway lighting
-Added windsock in correct location
-Added gables
-Added new hangar and dirt apron extension
-Removed trees from roads around the airport
-Misc. scenery additions/fixes
Known Issues:
-No perimeter fence (won’t happen until Asobo develops a fence tool)
-Procedurally-generated road near the apron
If I’ve overlooked anything or you have any suggestions, please leave a comment.
Thanks, and enjoy!
