YLLE – Ballera Airport v1.0
Ballera Airport is a private airport serving the Ballera Gas Plant in the far south west corner of Queensland, about 230km SSW of Windorah. The airport is owned and operated by Santos Limited, who also operate the gas plant; and it is used primarily to support scheduled charter FIFO flights for the plant’s workers. Any other non-medical aircraft using the airport must pay landing and handling fees, but can make use of the fueling station.
The main focus with fixing the Ballera Airport scenery was to “reopen” the airport. The Bing satellite imagery was taken at a time when the airport was briefly closed for resurfacing and light construction, and consequently had large Xs all down the runway showing it was out of use. This has been corrected and some changes have been made to update the airport to its new appearance, though this scenery is actually a hybrid of the old and new configurations (the old shade structure is gone, some of the concrete pads are updated, but the apron still has the old layout). This scenery uses all stock assets, you don’t need to download anything else for it to work.

Removed the runway closure Xs
Added completely custom runway markings
Added 4-light PAPIs for both directions
Fixed windsock locations and pads
Added gables
Cleaned up the apron and painted lines
Corrected stand locations
Added apron lighting poles
Replaced waiting hall with a more suitable building
Added scenery for utility area north of the apron
Removed two large sets of auto-generated cars (the car park was too varied, and there were cars on the apron)
Misc. scenery fixes/additions
Known Issues:
Runway light in the taxiway
No perimeter fence (won’t happen until Asobo develops a fence tool)
The fuel stand isn’t actually functional, because otherwise it spawns the default fuel objects in addition to the scenery
Painted weight limit warnings on the apron are not in the scenery yet
