The place Gammelsdorf is about ten kilometers north of Moosburg an der Isar and 15 kilometers west of Landshut on the southeastern edge of the Hallertau. Gammelsdorf is best known for the Battle of Gammelsdorf on November 9, 1313. Ludwig the Bavarian defeated his cousin, Duke Friedrich of Austria, in the struggle for supremacy in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation.
