KMIC – Crystal Airport v1.0
KMIC – Cyrstal Aiport
Crystal airport is a reliever airport in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul in Minnesota which originally opened in the 1940’s. This airport saw a major reconfiguration in the fall of 2020 which this scenery intends to fix. The major changes are the removal of runway 14R-32L which was replaced with taxiway G and the extending of the former runway 14L-32R (now renamed 14-32) by roughly 500 feet. This scenery depicts the view of the airport based on the photos I was able to find during the construction. Thus the grass is newly growing after completion of the construction.
Main Features:
– Removal of 14L-32R and replaced with taxiway G
– Extending 14-32 to the current length of 3751 feet
– Renaming all taxiways to match current airport diagram as of May 2021
– Addition of taxiway signs to match the airport layout
– Generic buildings added for hangars which do not auto populate with AI
– Addition of missing approaches as of May 2021 (RNAV 14 and RNAV 32) – Note the former VOR approach was removed I believe in 2020
Notes:
– I was able to use ADE to modify the stock airport. Thus I did not modify any other stock items such as the fueling location at the Thunderbird FBO or any of the existing COMs structure. I did add a new fuel location near the tower as this I understand is the new self-serve location.
