LFIO – Montaudran historical airport (100% custom fictional) v1.0
Here is my version of the closed airport LFIO (Toulouse-Montaudran) in France with a twin hangar 100% handmade from every single concrete brick to the lighting
I mainly started this project because I bought this airport in FSEconomy and since it was closed in real life , it wasn’t available as standard in fs2020 so I built it .. Again
A bit of history : LFIO was created in 1917 by Pierre-Georges Latécoère at first for military purposes and quickly change into civil transport as this Airfield saw the first civil flight ever with Barcelona (Spain) for destination the 25th of December 1918 .
Then in 1927 it became the starting point of a airmail service named “Latécoère airlines” , the main destinations were Africa and South America where Antoine de Saint-Exupery (famous french writer) flew.
The airmail services died in 1970 when the Breguet Factories and Air france Industries took over the Airport for Aircraft maintenance and testing until the last flight the 18th of December 2003. Now , all the maintenance services moved to LFBO (Toulouse Blagnac) 6.3nm from LFIO.
