PMDG DC-6 Ansett-ANA circa 1951 v1.0
This mod is for the Third Party Aircraft PMDG DC-6 by PMDG Simulations. This aircraft is payware and can be purchased on their website.
This Ansett livery was current in the 1950s and into the 1960s (fictional registration) as one of two major domestic airlines in Australia. The airline later became Ansett Australia and expanded briefly into the international market – but collapsed in 2001 a couple of years after coming under the control of Air New Zealand.
Sadly, PMDG did not release any airline liveries from down under with this magnificent aircraft, so along with other painters doing Pacific rim airlines, it is my intention that this classic livery and the already-released TAA livery will soon be joined by the TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Limited) livery. It is planned to release all three later as a complete package. Enjoy!
Simply unzip the ptp file from this zip file, and install with the PMDG Operations Centre as is usual with PMDG products!
Genuinely appreciate the effort gone into making repaints such as the Ansett scheme for a DC-6 from PMDG.
Please just let me say that though I want to have that DC-6 I just cannot bring myself to buy it.
1. It’s very expensive BUT good.
2. I prefer Australian themes in my sim and have done so for over twenty years.
3. And in this instance, most importantly …PMDG failed to produce any variant of the ‘6’ with NO spinners. We just didn’t have them on any of these aircraft in Australia. I know. I was there. I played in these airframes when they were operational and I was 10 years old. Times indeed were different then and better in fact.
Check out any historic photographs of Ansett and TAA 6’s or DC-4’s and Carvairs. No spinners.
This point of accuracy stops me and I wonder how many others from purchasing the PMDG brilliant product.
The penalty of being true to life.
