Mentana v1.0
Mentana is a town about 30 kilometres North-East of Roma and has a population of about 23,000.
Besides being historically famous because in 1867 a battle took place there between the French-Papal troops and the Italian volunteers led by Giuseppe Garibaldi – who tried to conquer Rome, then the main centre of the peninsula still outside the newborn Kingdom of Italy – the town provides a decent reference point for visual flight around the Capital.
