EDST – Hahnweide is an airfield located about two kilometers southwest of Kirchheim unter Teck with the status of a special landing site. An airfield that has become a worldwide name, not least because of the two traditional events, the Oldtimer Aviator Meeting and the Hahnweidewettbewerb. The town of Kirchheim unter Teck owns the site.
The tenants and operators are the Baden-Württemberg Aviation Association (BWLV), the Fliegergruppe Wolf Hirth e.V. and the Schempp Hirth company. The Fliegergruppe Wolf Hirth e. V. (as a member of the BWLV). A total of 8 clubs and the BWLV’s motorized flight school use the Hahnweide for air sports. Every year, many flight students from the age of 14 up to retirement age are trained in voluntary work, mainly on the winch in gliding and other air sports. The leading manufacturer of gliders, Schempp-Hirth Flugzeug-Vertriebs GmbH from Kirchheim / Teck, also uses the airfield for company flights.
