Bush Trip – Scottish Circumnavigation Part 1 West Coast
This is Part 1 of a tour of Scotland, starting in the far north west in the Outer Hebrides. This leg sees us travel south through the western isles before heading to the mainland in Ayrshire and south to Stranraer (290nm) and taking about 2.5 hours across the 5 sublegs. This is for testing and I welcome feedback on the subleg text particularly.
This is Part 1 of the Tour.
We start in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides in the far north west. We will travel south through Harris landing at Benbecula. The next section takes us down to Barra, Coll and landing at Tiree. From Tiree we head south easterly to Colonsay and Islay. Now we head across to the mainland skirting Arran and landing at Prestwick on the mainland. From here we conclude this part of the trip with a coastal jaunt over some of the famous golf courses at Troon and Turnberry before heading over the Galloway hills to Castle Kennedy near Stranraer. 5 Legs in total, about 290 nautical miles and should take about two and a half hours.
We will be taking the glass cockpit Cessna 172.
I am keen to get feedback on the text descriptions from users. Is it easy to follow, any inaccuracies?
**Thanks to f99mlu for his donated time in creating the Bush Trip Mission Generator.** I was struggling with the native tools in MSFS!
Part 2 is already in development and will take us across the Scottish Borders to the eastern side before heading north up towards Edinburgh.
Part 3 will take us north again up through Fife, Tayside and the Grampians arriving on the Moray Firth.
Part 4 will go north again up the coast skirting the Highlands and Sutherland to Wick near John O’Groats.
Part 5 sees us head over the water to the Orkney Islands and up to Fair Isle.
Part 6 will see us visiting the Shetland Isles and heading back to Orkney
Part 7 will complete the tour heading back to Stornoway.
