Dornier Wal
FS98/CFS Dornier Wal. Chilean Air Force – Fuerza Aerea de Chile. The Dornier Do J (later designated Do 16 by the Reich Air Ministry) was a twin-engine German flying boat of the 1920s designed by Dornier Flugzeugwerke, was better known as Wal (“whale”). In July of 1925, a flock of chilean Dornier Wal, leaded by captain Herbert Youlton, performed the first air expedition between Puerto Montt and Puerto Eden, in order to continue the studies to establish an air route to the Magallanes Straits.
