Aces High Flying Circus
These five missions are a set of campaigns involving Richard (Dick) Bong and Tommy Lynch of 39th Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group, in General Kenney’s 5th Air Force, New Guinea. The missions occurred during the Allied offensive of the spring 1944, when Captain Bong returned from the States on a War Bond drive and leave to his home in Wisconsin. Major Tommy Lynch and Captain Dick Bong were both highly decorated multiple Aces and were unassigned, free-lancing pilots. They were a two plane flight called the Flying Circus do to the multi-colored planes they were flying. Unfortunately, Major Tommy Lynch would be KIA by IJN gunboats, not Imperial Japanese pilots in aerial combat.
