FS2002 Grumman Goose (Mallard) G-73 In the early years following World War 2, Grumman developed under the company designation G-73 and the name Mallard, a twin-engined commercial amphibian that benefited from the company’s extensive experience of the design of military aircraft in this category. A high-wing cantilever monoplane of all-metal construction, with a stressed -skin two step hull, the G73 had an upswept tail unit, and retractable tricycle landing gear to provide amphibious capability.
