Drumheller Alberta CEG4 v1.0
Drumheller municipal airport is a small field in central Alberta about 52 nm northwest of Calgary. It has a paved 3500 foot runway with low intensity edge lighting and published RNAV approaches.
Drumheller is a spot in the province where the topography all of a sudden changes following the Red Deer River to the southeast. This was an area known as the Alberta badlands and was home to a few species of dinosaur including a Tyranasaur. There is a very well-known international museum called the Royal Tyrell Museum located here focusing on paleontology.
This area of central Alberta can be extremely hot during the summer months producingthe occasional thunderstorm build-up and sometimes hail.
