French Valley Airport (F70) Scenery v1.0
French Valley Airport (F70) Scenery overhaul.
Keeps the vast majority of existing scenery but adds more life by replacing blobs with trees, cars, fuel tanks, etc. The scenery breathes more life into the airport. I am not a 3d modeler so I did not create any new models or textures – this is all using the existing SDK material but as such will work on any MSFS installation. There’s a lot more I’ll likely do with the airport over time…but I’m happy for now.
For those note familiar with the French Valley Airport:
The airport serves the regioun around Temecula and Murrieta, California, USA. The region is known for winemaking and ranching as well as an annual wine and balloon festival. Being an hour south of the Los Angeles area and an hour north of San Diego, the region serves as a bedroom community for both metro areas. With nice weather most of the year French Valley supports a lot of flight training operations.
French Valley Airport covers an area of 261 acres which contains one asphalt paved runway (18/36) and measures 6,000 x 75 ft (1,829 x 23m).
The airport sees around 100,000 aircraft operations annually which are nearly all listed as general aviation. There are 170 aircraft based at this airport: 82% single eingine, 12% multi-engine, 1% jet, 2% helicopter and 1% ultralight.
Facilities include the outstanding French Valley Cafe which includes a full-service bar (but not before you fly!) and is decorated with air memorabilia and views overlooking the runway. Also on location is the Wings and Rotors Air Museum with miltiary displays, flyable helicopters and an F-4 Phantom II in restoration (there is a YouTube video of an engine run being used to cook a turkey!).
