Rarotonga is the main island in the Cook Range with a population of less than 11.000 , but a very popular tourist desitignation. Hence the airport serve as main gate to this Pacific
Paradise with domestic flight to the other islands, and international flights to Los Angeles, Sydney and Auckland.
Like in the airports of Skiathos and St. Martin, you get very close to the departing and arriving traffic due to the airports location, and its making it a very special experience.
The airport is a handy stopover on a long flight crossing the South Pacific, with ILS/DME procedures to both runways of 2.328 m. lenght.
