Old Tawau Airport v1.0
Sporting a 1700meter runway, It was formerlly one of the airport with the shortest runway in Malaysia that was serviced by b737classics. Regular operators back then were limited to 50minute flights back to Kota kinabalu using B737s or fokker 50s with no direct flights to Kuala Lumpur made possible due to associated risk of runway overrun with the payload and fuel requirements. Airport also had few incidents in the 1990s prompting the gov to relocated the airport away from town in a new site with a longer runway and ILS in late 2001. With that the former airport was finally shut down.
I took some time trying out MSFS SDK and asobo’s asset to replicate whatever i can based on google image and older sat images. I apolgize if it doesn’t look top notch as it is my first basic test with the sdk. Do inform me if you encounter any issues with it.
Note: Runway 17 PAPI descent angle is at 3.5 degree. Usable landing distance is about 4100feet or 1250meters due to offset touchdown. a 737 and a320 technically can utilize the airport but requires a lot of weight restriction and no tailwind allowed.
Installation: Extract and put it into the community folder.
