PASY Eareckson Air Station And Shemya Island Satellite Imagery v6.9
PASY Eareckson Air Station And Shemya Island Satellite Imagery v6.9

This mod adds Eareckson Air Station (PASY) and Shemya Island, Alaska (US), which is missing in stock MSFS. Shemya Island is one of the easternmost and westernmost islands in the United States, and most of it is covered by an abandoned military base. The airport can support large aircraft and is frequently used by airliners for emergency landings.

The satellite imagery uses the USA2 source which from what I know can be distributed as freeware with attribution.

pretty cool…I spent a year there 73-74 intercepting Russian teletype comms…USAF would send a Cobra Ball RC-135 toward Kamchatka to get more intell…Shemya wasn’t green very often except during the warmest days of summer and almost every day was covered in fog…

Shemya has the only runway with an ILS in the western Aleutians. If you are simming flights between the PNW and Northern Asia, the Great Circle passes close by. This runway, built and owned by the US Air Force, has long been a designated emergency landing field for commercial airlines, and has been used at least once in that capacity, when a China Pacific 767 landed there after several passengers and crew members were severely injured following an accidental elevator “excursion” sent the aircraft into a series of violent pitching motions.
The main runway is there in MSFS, and the ILS and VOR are functional, as are the runway lights, and the tarmac areas are there, but no buildings, parking pads, taxiway lights, or fueling stations exist in the stock sim. PASY is not an abandoned facility, and you can see on Google Earth that it’s well maintained, so this add-on is greatly appreciated. It will make flying into PASY a much more viable option.
