Segelflugzentrum Königsdorf (Glider Airfield south of Munich) – EDKG v1.0

The Original:

The „Segelflugzentrum Königsdorf“ (selectable with fictional ICAO code EDKG) is operated by six local flying clubs. It is located in Bavaria – south of Munich – and close to village Königsdorf. It is a perfect location to start a fly-out to near city Munich or to explore Bavarian Alps (maybe German highest Mountain Zugspitze, or beautiful Lake Walchensee?). There are 70 Gliders and 7 Towing Planes and Motorgliders operated at this Airfield.

The Scenery:

As I am living in the vicinity of Königsdorf, I tried to model my virtual “home-base” since FS98 and X-Plane 10. Today I have finished my version for MSFS2020. As I am unable to model the real Hangars including texturing, I tried to at least realize the shape of the Hangars using appropriate Generic Hangars. Maybe I will take the challenge to model the Hangars in a later point in time.

There are three scenery packages within ZIP-File:

1. edkg-koenigsdorf-orthophoto
This Orthophoto (generated from an older Version of Bing Maps without clouds) delivers a very high resolution with good color matichng and corrects the “generic mesh” for cloudy areas within default Bing tiles at village Königsdorf and south of Airfield. Note, that it is very big and not mandatory to enjoy the 3D scenery. However I recommend using that package as well in order to have most proper scenery.

2. edkg-koenigsdorf-scenery-basic
This package supplies the Hangars, Fuel Station corrected Vegetation, Fences, Windsocks and a lot of parked glider-trailers. That package is mandatory for my scenery and needs to stay in your community folder. I recommend using that package alone (or together with the Orthophoto package) if you want to have an abandoned airfield flying with bad weather or on a cold winter day. (In real life you would most likely be alone as well)

3 edkg-koenigsdorf-scenery-enhancement
That package is meant to be moved to community folder on demand, e.g. if you plan to fly on a warm summer weekend. The Airfield will be very crowded with a lot of planes, gliders, spectators, cars, ect…

Installation:
Copy the packages to your community folder as usual dependant on your needs (see above).

Note, that you need to have installed following freeware packages as well, in order to be able to enjoy all 3D Objects used in that scenery:

Mikea.at – AssetPack -> https://www.allflightmods.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2020/msfs2020-other/mikea-at-assetpack-v0-1-0/

LILC – Calcinate del Pesce -> https://www.allflightmods.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2020/msfs2020-airports/lilc-calcinate-del-pesce-v1-0/

The Gliders and Motorglider are granted to be used by Wolfgang Piper, the glider trailers have been done by Vonhinx. I thank the creators of the aforementioned objects for allowing them to be used on MSFS as well.
No part of any artwork and / or texture may be incorporated in any commercial product
