YMSP – Mount Surprise Airport v1.0

Mount Surprise Airport is a public airstrip operated by the Shire of Etheridge in Far North Queensland. It sits 4km north of the small rural town of Mount Surprise, which lies on the Gulf Development Road. The town is 200km SW of Cairns, 290km NW of Townsville, and 350km east of Normanton. The airport has no scheduled commercial flights, but the Shire received funding to tarmac the runway and apron to improve access for private planes, charters, and medical flights to the area.

The main goal was to tidy up the deafult scenery and update the airfield to its post-sealing appearance. I didn’t include runway lights because in real life they’re put out manually with prior notice, and really only meant for emergency situations. The airport is usually limited to operation during daylight hours, but if there’s interested I can upload a version with runway lighting as well. This scenery uses all stock assets, you don’t need to download anything else for it to work.

Version 1.0:
Corrected runway material and added and custom runway markings
Fixed windsock location
Added gables and cones around runway
Fixed apron
Added parking locations on and around the apron
Removed blurry autogen roads near the airport
Removed airport service vehicles
Improved the tree situation, but it’s still bad in this area. There are a lot of trees where they shouldn’t be, and trees missing where they should be in the default scenery.
Misc. scenery and vegetation fixes/additions

Known Issues:
Significant ground texture issues due to the missing trees around the airfield
