Airbus A320neo JetBlue ‘What’s Old is Blue Again’ v1.1
I have to be honest – I think this is the most beautiful livery that I have had the pleasure to work on so far in flight simulator. Smeary loves a classic design – and while most retro stuff in life is I love these colours and the style. And yes, this is a real plane – sadly one of one I believe – operated by JetBlue.
I dug this up on it: ‘JetBlue Airways today unveiled an airplane painted with how the airline imagines it might have looked in the 1960s. And, to keep the retro vibes flowing, the plane, an Airbus A320 named “What’s Old Is Blue Again,” will fly on the non-stop route from New York to Palm Springs from today (November 11, 2016)…
‘Although the airline has only been flying since 2000, it went about creating its own faux-1960s look by doing some serious homework. JetBlue designers spent several days at the Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography at the Cooper Union in New York City, poring through advertisements, graphics, images, and fonts from the era. The result is a RetroJet with bold orange and blue “speed stripes,” a font “consistent with a typeface widely used in the time period,” and a tail sporting the airline’s name written in a “jazz-inspired” font. The inclusion of the words “New York International” also hold a bit of retro magic; from 1948 to 1963 it was the official name of what we now know as JFK Airport, JetBlue’s home hub.’ [Conde Nast Traveller, Nov 2016]
I hope you like this livery – let me know what you think or give feedback. Yes, I know there is a ‘spot’ of white on the front of the windscreen. I cannot find the area that needs colouring (after a LOT of trying). Anyone that can help will fix all of my non white A320’s in one swoop!). As with real liveries, the AI and tail number have been set correctly – although if you want your own you can change it in game.
A special shout out to NYCE87 and all the others for proposing this design on the ‘Requests’ section of this site. Thanks… I love it!
