Turkish Airlines DC-6 (DC-7 version SE-ERC) v1.0
I finish this livery close to a year ago, there were no DC-6 in Turkish Airlines and before I finish the livery already a livery of this plane was published. So, I kept it but at this point after a year who cares.
Like I described before Turkish Airlines didn’t have a DC-6, and “jetfication” of the airline started with a leap form Vickers Viscounts, Fokker F27s and Douglas DC-3s to Douglas DC-9s in late 60s and early 70s and during this period they were shortages of planes that factory new ones coming late. Story of SE-ERC in Turkish Airlines starts form this point, on March 20, 1967.
Built for Eastern Air Lines on October 12, 1956, and 9 years of service in airlines sold to Transair Sweden on May 12, 1965, named Malmö. During this time was a high time for Turkish works leaving for Europe and due to deficiency of number of flights from Turkish Airlines leased SE-ERC on March 20, 1967
Unfortunately, one of the fights to Germany ends with a loss of the aircraft (luckily no casualties and injuries.). while landing in Munich – Riem Airport (MUC / EDDM)(and now closed) on January 20, 1968, during final front landing gear didn’t deploy and after a go around, emergency landing initiated, with no injuries and free, planes wasn’t during landing engine 2 and 3 propellers hits the runway and damages the R3350 engine. Repair of the aircraft and engines more expensive that expected whole aircraft were written off. After that aircraft further used for fire drills at Riem Airport until 1976.
Copy and paste Turkish Airlines folder to community folder and hopefully that should to the trick.
Hopefully you will have fun and the livery.
