All Creatures Great and Small flight plan v1.2
Taking in the scenery around the locations used in the original All Creatures Great and Small BBC television series.
The route is 81 nautical miles, flying in an anti-clockwise direction around 26 points in the Yorkshire Dales. The flight plan is available in .pln, .fpl and .lnmpln formats; however, MSFS 2020 will likely not play nicely with the .pln. (If anyone knows of a fix, please let me know.)
Your suggested soundtrack is Johnny Pearson’s music from the series’ first run.
To make the plan functional in MSFS, nearby RAF Leeming is our departure point and Teeside International is our finishing point. There is the option to land in Mrs Pumphrey’s garden instead (see one of the screenshots), if you so desire.
The first waypoint is the location that James Herriot said was his favourite in all of Yorkshire: “I think the exact moment it dawned on me that Yorkshire was a magical place was when I pulled my car off the unfenced road leading from Leyburn over Bellerby Moor to Grinton. It was near the highest point, by a little stream, and I looked back over the swelling moorland to the great wooded valley of the River Swale where it curves on its approach to the town of Richmond.”
