Animated Cable Car ‘Saentis’ Switzerland v1.0
Animated Cable Car ‘Saentis’ Switzerland
Let me present you one of the most famous aerial cable cars in Switzerland. It is near to the one I have already designed before (see “Hoher Kasten”). Due to the exposed Saentis summit with its impressive building including a radio tower it is easily found by VFR planes and helicopters.
Extract from Wikipedia (modified):
“At 2502 metres above sea level, Saentis is the highest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. The mountain is a highly visible landmark thanks to its exposed position. Saentis is among the most prominent summits in the Alps. The panorama is spectacular. Six countries can be seen if the weather allows: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy. The aerial cable car “Luftseilbahn Schwaegalp-Saentis” is one of the most frequented cable cars in Switzerland. It has a total length of 2307 meters. The altitude gain between Schwaegalp and the Saentis summit is 1123 meters. The journey takes roughly 8 minutes. ”
Due to the very kind support of the Technical Director and the architect of the stations, but also some estimations based on many fotos I could realise a simulation quite close to reality. The operation is performed continuoulsy, with 1 min stays in the stations. Departure and arrival are done with adapted speed control. Wheel groups follow the ropes. To get the scenery, just download “umy-lsbsaentis.zip” and extract it to your community folder.
To ease access to the valley station I have created a separate virtual heliport with ICAO code “LSSA” (LS for Switzerland, SA for Schwaegalp). To get it selectable at MSFS start just download also “umy-lssa-heliport.zip” and extract it into your community folder.
The scene is compatible with the “project-lifts” from mamu82. To see 3D people around the buildings please download also Dave’s 3D People Library
And now enjoy the rides along the line and around the summit. If you like my work, please leave a comment.
By the way: whenever you have the chance to visit the real Saentis, take it! A lot of information, pictures and videos are available on the internet with the search term “Säntis” resp. “Saentis”.
