Benidorm is a municipality in Spain in the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community. It is located in the county of Marina Baixa. Benidorm enjoys a particularly mild climate which contributes to its popular success. Once a fishing town, in the second half of the 20th century it became a seaside resort known for its beaches and lively nightlife. It is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean. Symbol of a certain type of mass tourism, defined by a dishevelled urbanism (all concrete), the city is characterized by a large number of skyscrapers, the highest in Europe.
