Flugplatz Montabaur v1.0
The Montabaur airfield is the home base of LSC Westerwald e.V ..
It is on the road between the beautiful town of Montabaur and the village of Holler,
and is also known as the “Körlen” glider airfield.
The Luftsportclub Westerwald e.V. (LSC for short) was founded in 1952 as the “Glider Flying Group Montabaur”.
Since the merger with the “Aeroclub Kannenbäckerland” in 1974, the association has borne its current name.
The glider airfield is about 1250m long and about 80m wide.
This size is necessary in order to take off the various types of aircraft.
The self-starting motor glider takes off after approx. 300m.
However, the entire space is required for the winch launch of a glider.
1000m of rope are pulled out with the Lepo (a converted VW Golf) to pull the aircraft into the air.
The notch height achieved in this way is between 300-600m, depending on the aircraft type.
A number of volunteers are required for flight operations to work. In addition to the flight instructors,
there are also flight managers, winch drivers, tow pilots and a few helpers for pushing back and starting the aircraft.
Bisher realisiert:
– Das Flughafengebäude mit Hangar und Tower
– Der pfannenbedeckte Carport mit Biertischarnituren
– Der gefüllte Parkplatz mit Werbebannern
– Verschiedene statische Flugzeuge
