Hochbrücken Holtenau v1.0
The Holtenauer Hochbrücken are high bridges that cross the Kiel Canal in Kiel and connect the two districts of Kiel, Wik and Holtenau. The western bridge bears the name “Prinz Heinrich Bridge” (1911/1995) and is already the second with this name at this point. The eastern one is called “Olympic Bridge” (1972) because it was built as part of the expansion measures for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Each of the bridges has a headroom of 42 meters, two lanes of a carriageway on federal highway 503 for cars and a sidewalk for pedestrians and cyclists. There is a parking lot for tourists, ship spotters and other visitors to the Kiel Canal on the eastern southern ramp of the lane towards Holtenau.
