Port Jefferson Power Station LI NY, USA v1.0
This almost 500 MW fossil fuel power station at Port Jefferson is the fourth largest on Long Island. Its 444-foot tall stacks are a familiar VFR reporting point. This power station along with Northport and Shoreham are part of my growwing Long Island landmark collection.
I will tell you openly that building this model was a data-gathering challenge; there are many shots of the plant from the bay, but very little detail to be had from other angles – even drone shots. If you work at Port Jefferson Power Station, my apologies. There’s a lot of guesswork here. I am, however, forever indebted to a boater who published a night time video as he sailed past; I was able to determine relatively close flash rates for the warning beacons.
