Riga scenery
This mod places some of the missing scenery in Riga, Latvia – Radio and Tv tower and St. Peter’s church.
The Riga Radio and TV Tower in Riga, Latvia is the tallest tower in the European Union. It was built between 1979 and 1989. Its highest point reaches 368.5 metres (1,209 ft), which makes it the third tallest tower in Europe (after the Ostankino Tower at 540 metres (1,770 ft) and the Kiev TV Tower at 385 metres (1,263 ft)) and the 16th tallest self-supporting tower in the world.
First mention of the St. Peter’s Church is in records dating to 1209. The church was of masonry construction and therefore undamaged by a city fire in Riga that year. The history of the church can be divided into three distinct periods: two associated with Gothic and Romanesque building styles and the third with the early Baroque period. The middle section of the church was built during the 13th century, which encompasses the first period. The only remnants of this period are located in the outer nave walls and on the inside of a few pillars in the nave, around which larger pillars were later built.
Originally there is a huge procedurally generated skyscraper building placed instead of tv tower, which doesn’t fit into city landscape. Churches are missing. Since there is no Google maps 3d data available for Riga to import from, I’m slowly making some models in Blender.
