Schloss Vaduz and other landmarks for Liechtenstein v0.1

The Principality of Liechtenstein is a German-speaking microstate situated in the Alps between Austria and Switzerland. The principality is a semi-constitutional monarchy headed by the Prince of Liechtenstein.
Liechtenstein is bordered by Switzerland to the west and south and Austria to the east and north. It is Europe’s fourth-smallest country, with an area of just over 160 square kilometres (62 square miles) and a population of 38,749. Divided into 11 municipalities, its capital is Vaduz, and its largest municipality is Schaan. It is also the smallest country to border two countries.

Economically, Liechtenstein has one of the highest gross domestic products per person in the world when adjusted for purchasing power parity. The country has a strong financial sector centred in Vaduz. It was once known as a billionaire tax haven, but is no longer on any official blacklists of uncooperative tax haven countries. An Alpine country, Liechtenstein is mountainous, making it a winter sport destination.

This pack contains the following mods:
-Schloss Vaduz (Vaduz Castle) is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. The castle gave its name to the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, which it overlooks from an adjacent hilltop. The Princely Family of Liechtenstein acquired Vaduz Castle in 1712 when it purchased the countship of Vaduz. The former owners, who were presumably also the builders, were the counts of Werdenberg-Sargans. In the Swabian War of 1499, the castle was burned by the Swiss Confederacy. The western side was expanded by Count Kaspar von Hohenems (1613–1640). The castle underwent a major restoration between 1904 and 1920, then again in the early 1920s during the reign of Prince Johann II, and was expanded during the early 1930s by Prince Franz Joseph II. The castle is not open to the public as the princely family still lives in the castle.

-Kathedrale St. Florin is a neo-Gothic church in Vaduz and the centre of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vaduz. Originally a parish church, it has held the status of cathedral since 1997. It was built in 1874 by Friedrich von Schmidt on the site of earlier medieval foundations. Its patron saint is Florinus of Remüs (Florin), a 9th-century saint of the Vinschgau Valley.

-Burg Gutenberg (Gutenberg Castle) is a castle in the town of Balzers, the southern-most municipality in the country. Gutenberg is one of the five castles of the principality and one of two that have survived intact until the present day. Originally built during the 12th century, the castle became the property of the House of Habsburg in 1314. It was then used primarily for guarding the borderlands between the local Habsburg-owned territories and those belonging to the independent Swiss cantons. After a fire in 1795 that greatly damaged Balzers, the castle ruins were used as a source of building material for the reconstruction of the town. The castle was purchased and slightly repaired by the town in 1824, then sold in 1854 to Princess Franziska of Liechtenstein. The castle underwent substantial restoration between 1905 and 1912, under the supervision of its new owner, Vaduz-born architect Egon Rheinberger. Unlike Vaduz Castle, Gutenberg Castle does not serve as a residence of the princely family of Liechtenstein and is open to the general public as a museum. The castle lies on 70 meter high free-standing rock near the centre of Balzers and is accessible via a street and road known as Burgweg.
This mod also features Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus. This church, consecrated to Nikolaus von Myra, was built between 1909 and 1912 and replaced the old parish church of St. Nikolaus. It is located between the two districts of Mäls and Balzers, right at the foot of Burg Gutenberg hill.

-Burg Wartau (Wartau Castle) is a ruined castle located on the Swiss bank of the Rhine river, in the Canton of St. Gallen. It was built atop a small tor or rock outcrop east of Gretschins hamlet. The castle consists of either two square towers built next to each other or a single rectangular tower which was divided into two. The main tower is 22 meters (72 ft) tall with walls that are up to 1.75 m (5.7 ft) thick. The castle first appears in the historical record in 1342 when Johannes von Belmont pledged it to his wife Adelheid von Klingen in exchange for 250 silver marks. The castle changed owners several times during the 15th and 16th centuries until Wartau lost its admintrative role in 1530. Following the collapse of the Helvetic Republic and the creation of the Canton of St. Gallen in 1803, Wartau became part of the new Canton. The castle ruins were sold in 1818 to a private owner. It was donated to the municipality in 1911 and restored in 1932. In 1982 it was again repaired and restored, followed by a survey and excavations in 2002.

All buildings were recreated manually from various photos and videos from the internet. Schloss Vaduz, Kathedrale St Florin and Burg Gutenberg come with their own lights and POI.

This mod is not intended for sale or resale.
