Saint-Malo, Walled City, French Port (Updated V1.1)
One universal truth I think all Microsoft Flight Simmers can now agree on is that our eyes are more open with regard to the diverse beauty of the world thanks to the sim and its addon creators. It’s similar to when Google Earth first came out and we spent so much time just exploring the 2D imagery of foreign lands that we may never get the chance or have the resources to visit.
I was reminded of these things with this scenery of Saint Malo City. It’s a walled port city, that looks like it would have been right at home in Game of Thrones. These are the types of places not many will be able to visit, and yet Microsoft Flight Simulator grants us this opportunity. I cannot wait for Virtual Reality to be fully supported, as it will further enhance these aerial expeditions we are all embarking on.
Updates V 1.1:
- Meshes cleanup
- Fix some terrain elevation issues inside the city
- Add the national Fort building near the city
“Saint-Malo is a historic French port in Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany on the English Channel coast.
The walled city had a long history of piracy, earning much wealth from local extortion and overseas adventures. In 1944, the Allies heavily bombarded Saint-Malo, which was garrisoned by German troops. The city changed into a popular tourist centre, with a ferry terminal serving the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey, as well as the Southern English settlements of Portsmouth, Hampshire and Poole, Dorset.
The famous transatlantic single-handed yacht race, Route du Rhum, which takes place every four years in November, is between Saint Malo and Point-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.”
