Washington Air Route Traffic Control Facility (ZDC)
This add-on includes a customized representation of the Washington Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZDC) in Leesburg, Virginia. The facility can be found about 1.6NM northeast of the Leesburg Executive Airport (KJYO).
This add-on is primarily a pet project of mine, to test the capabilities of the sim’s scenery editor, as well as to practice my skills with Blender. Keep in mind that because I am a novice developer, the detail quality of the facility may not be quite impressive up close. However, due to the absence of photogrammetry data for the areas surrounding Washington DC, this model provides a more accurate overall representation of the traffic control facility.
The main structure is hand-crafted, using textures derived from Google’s photogrammetry data of the Boston Air Route Traffic Control Center. Additional tweaks were made to make it more representative of the Leesburg facility. The accompanying structures are rough representations, using the sim’s built-in scenery objects. Over time, I may provide updates to this facility, as well as to the surrounding area. For now, I hope you enjoy!
